Why shouldn't some marital relationships end?

Backstory

I apologize, in advance, if I offend the marrieds here -- that is not the intent -- but, I saw this on Postsecret today and thought it connected in an interesting way to maryjane31's question about "Believe in love at first sight?"

It says (on the back) - "Love never dies, they say, and I am living proof of that, having been married 50 years and in love with someone else I can't have. Love never dies!"

maryjane31 says,

Another WOW lilybrook. Interesting indeed.

Wench says,

To this day, I don't understand why my parents are still married. They're not in love.

Wench says,

They believe they're doing the right thing because of their faith. Ok, great, you're not divorced. But you don't honor your wife or respect your husband or love or forgive or cooperate, in almost thirty years of marriage they haven't learned to communicate - living here has given us ample opportunity to observe this up close. It's not for lack of trying, they've been to pretty much every marriage counsellor in Philly by now. But I just feel like you're not doing God any favors by staying married but never learning to love.
