I do want to add something I discovered, which confused me at first when I learned to set boundaries. Some people, who are counting on you to be a pushover, won't appreciate the niceness/kindness. They may even call you not very nice things. So strength is an important aspect of being nice so you don't get pushed over again.
Thanks Autumn22 and lilybrook. I've been called a pushover before but I thought I was being nice so I didn't quite know what to think. Guess I'll just have to work on making my boundaries clearer. :)
About Six-Word Questions
SMITH Magazine brings you an entirely new kind of six-word experience: Six-Word Questions. This is the place to pose a question to the SMITH community from, "What are your favorite Six-Word quotations" to challenging members to pen Six-Word Obituaries to the recently departed to Six-Word jokes and any other Six-Word question you can dream up. You can even request that the responses be in six words. Everyone has a question—what's yours?
