My parents...I couldn't begin to tell you...
My daughter told me something I used to say that seemed so innocent on my part, but caused her great distress:
"Let's not get carried away."
I can see now that it probably was a real enthusiasm-buster. The truth is, I don't even remember saying it. Parents say the dardest things!
Here's a good one from my mother.... " I am your mother and don't you forget it! I know what is right for you and believe me you are not going on the right path!" (I had no idea what path she was taking about)
My mother was mentally ill so the things she said were almost always crazy making. Sometimes it was the more subtle things that were most difficult to come to grips with.
I can only imagine all the offhanded things I've said to my daughter that she survived/thrived through.
About Six-Word Questions

This is the place to pose a question to the SMITH community from, "What are your favorite Six-Word quotations" to challenging members to pen Six-Word Obituaries to the recently departed to Six-Word jokes and any other Six-Word question you can dream up. You can even request that the responses be in six words. Everyone has a question—what's yours?
