I haven't seen this movie yet, but want to comment. Because every summer I get a big book to read that will last the whole summer. I like to think of them as my summer friend. This summer, it was Les Miserables. But that book is just too darn big!! So when I heard it was being made into a movie with Anne Hathaway, I decided that I'd see the movie. And I never do that--I always read the book first. I'm one of those people.
So, I'm excited to break my pattern. I hope it is good.
I have a feeling you'll enjoy it! The movie left me absolutely speechless. The acting and singing was magnificent, and the story line was amazing. One of the best movies I've ever seen.
One of the things I asked for this Christmas was to see a movie with my daughter (and maybe my son-in-law) and discuss it afterward over food/drinks. I'm a big discusser person, so that's the big deal about this present--the discussion afterwards.
We haven't opened our gifts to each other yet--maybe this weekend--and I have a feeling I'm going to get my wish. On my birthday, my son-in-law said he'd like to see it and my daughter was surprised. I had the book laying around my apartment and he was amazed at the sheer size of it--that started the talk about the movie.
So, yay, thanks for the great review. I'll let you know what I think. If I don't go with them, I'll go by myself. I hope other people comment here to your query memoir; I've love to see the responses.
FABULOUS. I have never seen les Mis before nor did I know anything about it. It was really well done and I thought the singing was pretty good. It was so long. Ps my fave character is Javert.
