Would the answer to "why?" help?

Backstory

Such a sad day today. The frustrating thing is that no answer as to why this happened would make sense or ease the pain. But I sense an entire nation crying in unison, "Why, why?"

accidentaltourist says,

So often we ask "why?" thinking we will be able to see the reasoning behind an action, and it will make sense. I cannot imagine any reasoning that will make sense in this case. There is a nation-wide feeling of helplessness and frustration. No matter what information we eventually gain, we will never understand. Never.

In a way, yes. It will give us an answer to the question we're all asking. At least then we can stop wondering. At the same time, no answer will ever be enough. No matter what anyone says or what we learn, it can't take away the fact that we lost so many innocent people.
