It reminds me of a few months back when I went to go rent a car hauler. The guy looks at me and says, "you're not the one hauling a vehicle, are you?" "Yes, as a matter of fact I am. Is there a problem?". He continues on to ask me if I have experience towing. "Look Mr., I have plenty of experience towing...I've towed big ass boats, jetski and motorcycle trailers, tent trailers, etc. You got something against women towing?" I eventually left with the car hauler. Later in the day I returned the car hauler. While everybody else (mainly men) were returning their rented trailers and haulers in the middle of a big open space, I asked the guy where he wanted the trailer. He points to the smallest space for this car hauler to fit, probably thinking he'd make a fool out of me. I proceed to back up the car hauler into this tiny ass spot, and nailed it first time. The look on the guys face was priceless, and I felt good for proving him wrong. He came running up to my truck window and said, "Lady, I don't know what you do for a living, but you're in the wrong business!" Obviously he was saying that I should be a truck driver or a trailer backer upper! I left with a huge smile and total satisfaction. No doubt he was a cured male chauvinist!
MsKillie--I gotta tell you. When I first started towing, I could not get the hang of backing up with a trailer to save my life! The men trying to teach me were so vaugue with their instructions, that it was nearly impossible to understand. I went to the ocean boat ramp and sat for about 1 hour watching. Turns out 98% of the people couldn't back up worth shit either! HA! It was comical to just watch. Then in that hour, along comes a woman. She backed her boat and trailer straight into the water without any problems. I leaped out of my seat, went running over to her, and said, "Lady, can you quick give me any pointers on how to back up?" She was so direct with her words, that as soon as I got home, I put her words to test. I even parallared parked my trailer inbetween two cars! So MsKillie...here's the trick. Always have your camper straight (lined up perfectly with the back of your Jeep) before backing up. It makes life soooo much easier. Put your Jeep in reverse and look in your rearview mirror. Slowly back up. As you back up, your camper will more than likely start to go in an opposite direction of your Jeep. Whatever direction your camper is going, turn your steering wheel in the OPPOSITE direction! That's the key. And don't be in a rush. Good luck and let me know how it goes! One more thing...you might want to consider a pop up tent camper. They're much lighter since you'll be towing with a Jeep, and they serve the same purpose. Also I stronger recommened you getting a 'brake assist' installed on your jeep. It is wired from your brakes to your towing lights. It will save on your Jeep brakes when going down steep hills, and in general it's just safe to have if towing
Thanks for the tips jl! My Jeep came equipped with trailer sway control, so that should help on cross-country trips. I will probably practice with some of my dad's empty trailers soon :) He should be a good teacher; he has lots of patience!
i used to attend a very complementarian (male leadership dominated) Baptist church. Nearly all the men there were very respectful towards women, but respect does not necessarily confer equal status. There was a blanket protocol of no women in significant ministry- preaching, diaconate, worship leading. As per Autumn 22, I do believe it bred a bullying attitude with a few women. I now attend a Baptist church which is far more egalitarian in view, with women involved at all levels of ministry. Gender identity in churches continues to be a subject which generates a lot of discussion within them.

Yes I think it always will be. Do you notice it more in older men? I do. I have noticed it in men who are in some position of power as well.Wench says,
