Ever read Steven Hawking's take on it? He says that they wouldn't travel light years just to say hi. They'd have a very specific reason, and it most likely wouldn't be warm and fuzzy. Coming from him, it makes me a little concerned.BGourley says,

Well Dean6805, Hawking is definitely in my top favored ranks of rockstar physicists but he also came to the mathematical conclusion that the universe did not need God to come into existence. So he is esteemed buthe is leaving a very important piece out of that alien equation....curiosity. They may simply want to know like we do. Hopefully we are all a little more "grown up" before all that happens or in the very least, finally in a respectful relationship with our own humanity.
