treehugger says,

Ex. "Slept like a baby".

jene2008 says,

Happier than a dead pig in the sunshine.

marymc says,

Laugh before breakfast, cry before noon. (Well THAT'S optimistic!)
Out of everything bad, something good happens. (This is just Pollyana bullshit)
Everything happens for a reason. (Who's reason?)
Well, I'll be dipped in shit and hung on a line to dry. (Southern relatives... gotta love 'em.)

tonyglim says,

You can't have your cake and eat it too.

accidentaltourist says,

I always heard "dipped in shit and rolled in corn flakes". Also, someone I know always said "useless as tits on a warthog"...which made no sense, until I realized the REAL expression is "...tits on a boar hog."

treehugger says,

That's funny, I think I always heard warthog too... Never thought about it too much!

maryjane31 says,

Put it where the sun don't shine!

MO_Thoughts2 says,

"That's neater than a peter" -- was one aunt's expression. Ok, it makes sense, kinda.....but it's just odd.

canadafreeze says,

My mom use to say, I'm so t-u-r-d tired I could f-a-r-t faint. Makes little sense but it makes me smile:-) to recall it.

Believe says,

I don't give a fat rat's ass.

EnMasse says,

Opposites attract.

treehugger says,

It's always in the last place you look.

TawnyPort says,

so and so is as smart as a box of warm rocks.

NumbrOneAunt says,

piece of cake.

NumbrOneAunt says,

treehugger - once heard a comic do a bit on this one: "it's always in the last place you look." there's a saying that makes NO sense! what - like after you find it you're gonna keep lookin'?

JAD says,

Believe, I have one similar to yours. 'Kiss a fat rat's doodie gland'. Childhood friend would say that all the time.

NumbrOneAunt says,

another one: cute as a button. i have nothing against buttons, but if someone asked me to make a list of the 20 cutest things i'd ever seen, buttons would not make the cut. :)

Dhani says,

(If a saying is deemed 'age-old' it's most likely to conceal a kernel of wisdom. 'Everything happens for a reason' and 'Good often appears out of something bad' make perfect sense to this memoirist...)
