My cousin's girlfriend brought her iPad to our family Easter party and my father was absolutely disgusted. I didn't see the big deal in it but my father kept telling me how wrong it was. What do you think?
I think sticking your head in an iPad is a great way of avoiding dealing with obnoxious relatives while still fulfilling your familial duty by making an appearance. It also helps if you wear ear-phones. :-D
Yes it's rude but I also felt kinda bad for her because she was surrounded by people she didn't know during the holidays. I certainly wouldn't want to be in her position. It probably would've been better if my cousin formally introduced us to her. Then maybe she wouldn't have felt so awkward talking to us. What would you have done if you were there? Would you have introduced yourself to her?
Absolutely! I am amazed that younger people aren't taught social graces. Your cousin should have introduced her. When that didn't happen, the adults should have stepped up to the plate. Electronics are a wall against real social interaction.
Mutually agreed to social interaction is one thing; enforced, against-your-will social interaction is quite another. Now, where did I put that iPad?
