When I was child there was 7 children mom couldn't afford costumes, so I never owned any. We ultimately did the sheet thing or just made our faces up. Sorry about the six words; just thought I'd explain.

Barbarella wasn't till 1968. :) Just an astronaut girl - it was kind of the height of space mania - middle of the Gemini missions, years still before landing on the moon. My daddy made my costume out of mostly recycled bits, and he spray painted my rain boots silver.
