Call for Submissions: Is There Life After New York
Friday, August 21st, 2009
I think it’s safe to say that most New Yorkers have a love-hate relationship with their city. I moved to the Big Apple about a year ago and my experience so far has certainly had it’s share of less than wonderful moments (in addition to the numerous, truly great ones). I’ve spent hours of my life waiting for trains (many that turned out to have not been running in the first place) and I’ve been shoulder checked by more strangers than I could possibly ever count. But the way I see it, that’s just the price you pay for living in what is arguably the greatest city in the world.
Allow me to introduce Is There Life After New York, an online community for current residents to share all of the things they love and can’t stand about NYC, and for former residents to discuss how they are adjusting to life outside of the city. You can get involved by joining a group, posting a blog or contributing to any of their ongoing forum discussions. One of the many interesting topics currently being discussed is What Did New York Teach You? (”How to be mean” tops the list). Let’s not to be too harsh on NYC though. She may have a foul temper, but she’s still my lady.
