My Life So Far

A friend I didn’t talk to for a while was cut out of the photo; now we’re good friends again. It’s a reminder not to stay angry.

The items on my refrigerator remind me about my life: A photo of friends, taken 15 years ago but to me is timeless. A note from my mom that says she and my dad love me. A poem my grandmother sent me when I was in college, which reminds me of her and how she conducted her life. It’s about handling life’s ups and downs with the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child. I read that poem often. A notepad where I jot down groceries I need. Grocery receipts (not sure why, it’s something to do with creating a budget). A cat cartoon. A photo from my brother’s wedding. And, a postcard from Italy of Michelangelo’s David’s big marble butt….because who doesn’t want to look at perfection now and then!
