He smelled like gasoline or aftershave.

Backstory

I was talking with a friend today who mentioned that his dad smelled like BenGay and Old Spice. Earlier today, I'd been thinking (as I cleaned snow off my car) that my dad always smelled like the bulk fuel plant that was a huge part of our family business. On special occasions, he smelled like fresh shower and aftershave. The smell of gas stations -- to this day -- brings me back to childhood just a little.
