I look absolutely nothing like my father did, and used to often wonder if someone else was my REAL Dad. He was a handsome guy. I could have made great use of his face.
I get this, only I didn't get a chance to look into the face of anyone claiming to be my father. I grew up with a stepfather, and he made sure everyone knew I wasn't his.
my husband's four elder brothers and sister were born when their father was working his own milk run. He changed jobs and became a postman, after which my husband was born. You can imagine the family jokes.
I guess one of the funny/sad things to me is that the old man mostly treated me as if I was some other guy's child- or at least that's how it felt to me.
