"All they want is your time."
Backstory
My friend Michael -- a father of a 9-year-old girl, and a guy I've checked in with over the years about what it's like to be a dad -- said these words to me at his family's annual holiday party recently. I was telling him about how much I have been enjoying my son, now ten months old, especially lately. And we talked about how for all those "savor every moment" sentiments every always says to you, during those first few Twilight Zone months of parenthood it was hard, no matter how excited I was my boy was here and how much I loved him, to enjoy every moment. But now, at this amazingly sweet age, I've very much in the moment, truly enjoying it. "It's a great time in their life and yours," Michael said. "All they want is your time."
