About me
If you were to throw up your hands in exasperation and yell "it's the story of my life," what would you be talking about?
War. I'm the daughter of a Vietnam veteran and the granddaughter of a World War II hump pilot. It was inevitable that I would go out for a big adventure after college and run into a war. My memoir, BLACK ELEPHANTS, is a Gulf War love story coming out in Fall, 2011.
Besides SMITH, I read stories at:
The New Yorker, The New York Times, and The Best American Essays anthologies.
In bed I like to read:
A book, the old-school kind with paper pages.
My favorite story of all time is:
Tobias Wolff's short story, "Class Picture." It's about honesty and adventure, the things I cherish.
Right now, I'm reading:
Denis Johnson's novel, Jesus' Son.
